Harakeke/Flax Workshop with Megan

Develop your skills  in weaving and be introduced to the customs around working with flax. Create a 2 corner kete basket and enjoy the company of other women.  

• Bring your own lunch

• A pair of scissors and a blunt old cutlery/butter knife (we will be using the back of the knife to soften flax in a way similar to how you curl ribbon).

• An old hand towel or kitchen towel can be useful but is not necessary. Labelling equipment is a good idea. 

• Any equipment should be "retired" from the kitchen as green flax staining may occur. 

• Gardening gloves are also useful for preparing flax strips. If anyone has reduced strength or pain in their hands and fingers it would be good to know beforehand so I can soften some flax ahead of time for them.
