Bookings

Bookings are essential for all courses and workshops to ensure we have the numbers for the courses to go ahead.

For those courses without a start date, please register your interest and we can contact you in advance of it being held.

For courses with a fee, enrolments are only confirmed upon fee payment . We accept cash, cheques and online payment.  Please contact us if you wish to pay online. Payment is due seven days prior to course commencement. 

Some support groups have fees but these can be waived as personal circumstances are taken into account. 

Fees are not refundable within two working days of the start date. Refunds will be given for earlier withdrawals minus a 25% administration fee.

Senior Net :  Computer Training
We run our computer courses through Senior Net Warkworth to utilise the expertise of their volunteers and the great set-up of their computer lab. 
SeniorNet was first established in New Zealand in 1992.  The organisation mainly aims to bring "... adults and technology together in a friendly, fun and stress-free way. Small, well organised classes, with volunteer tutors, run courses not only an introduction to computers and surfing the Net but also a vast range of subjects." 
Our computing classes are open to women of all ages and diverse backgrounds.

Fiona Brading 'People Architects' :  Career Development and Job Search  
Fiona thoroughly enjoys supporting and equipping individuals with the skills and beliefs to develop their careers. Searching for a job, deciding on an area of study, and returning to paid employment after a prolonged break can be an overwhelming experience. 
Fiona knows the questions you are asking yourself: Where to from here? Where do I start? How do I start? What next? Over the years she has helped a diverse range of clients explore career options, overcome obstacles and move forward confidently.
Qualifications:  Degree in Science (Psychology and Sports Science Major). Graduate Certificate in Career Development.
 

Young Mum's Educational Programme - FREE

For mothers up to 25 years. Explore strategies for raising healthy, happy children. Childcare and morning tea provided.

Computer Skills: Beginners

Beginners Level: For those who have little or no experience with computers. Learn how to use your mouse & keyboard, turn computer on & off, & learn basic computing skills. Once confident with using a computer, the Basic Word or Excel course could be the next step to build your skills. Using Windows 7 or 10.

For women who have started using a computer and would like to learn more. Knowing how to use MS Word is invaluable for those looking for work or returning to the workforce. Once you have a grasp of the basics, you can move on to the Intermediate level.

Harakeke/ Flax Weaving in Warkworth

One-day workshop held at The Kourawhero Hall. This is a chance to learn basic flax-weaving skills from an experienced local Maori weaver. learn about Tikanga Maori protocol around gathering, preparation & disposal of any waste flax. Start with making putiputi/flowers, to introduce the tauiwi/students, to the feel of using harakeke/flax and to strengthen the hands and fingers before making a kete kumara.

Clay Workshop

A one-day workshop at artist’s studio. The day will be spent playing with clay. The class will start with pinch pots being the introduction to clay, the importance of joining clay well, slab work and coiling. We will build a bird feeder in the morning and after lunch will continue with a coiled sculpture and both items will be decorated. Pots will be fired when dry and taken to the Centre for collection

Creative Expression through Painting

Awaken your creative potential, have fun & learn to paint with high quality watercolour. No previous drawing or painting experience required to achieve exciting results. Warm up with various art media & complete a large watercolour painting to take home. You will be guided through any barriers to keep your creative juices flowing!

Self Defense for Women

This is a 6 hour course for women 17 years and older. It is supported by the Ministry of Justice and tutored by the very experienced Rana Moir. You will learn physical and verbal self defence actions and the group will discuss topics such as safety, situations and fears. Come along and gain more confidence and self-awareness at this empowering workshop. Travel subsidies may be available. Please contact us for more information.
