The Women’s Centre Rodney was first established as The Women’s Resource Centre in 1987 by a group of Rodney women who recognised the need for a women-only space in the community.

Our focus is on supporting women as autonomous, self-determining, inter-dependent human beings within their families, work, cultures and communities. We work towards social change, advocating for equality and empowerment of all women.

We recognise that women are disadvantaged in our society. One of our ultimate goals is to work towards a society where relationships are based on co-operation and respect, rather than competition and power-over.

We are opposed to all oppressions, including those based on gender, race, social and economic status, education, ability, sexual orientation and religion.

As such, we are a community-based organisation offering a range of affordable, quality services to meet women’s needs.

The Warkworth Centre is a space to sit quietly or link up with others, providing a safe, friendly, caring and confidential environment.

The Centre continues to evolve to meet the needs of women in the Rodney district.
Our Governance Committee meets regularly throughout the year to oversee and contribute to the running of the Centre.
